When testing DC voltage, AC voltage, DC current, resistance, diode, buzzer and battery, connect the red test lead to V 0 mA jack and black test lead to COM jack. When testing the magnifying ratio of the transistor, turn the switch to FE position and connect the transistor to the eight hole jack.
The square wave output has a frequency of 50 Hz and a voltage of approximately 3 V peak-to-peak (Vp-p). The output jacks used are “V Ω mA” and “COM”.
When testing the current gain (hFE) of a transistor, turn the switch to the hFE position and insert the transistor into the 8-hole socket according to its type and pin configuration.
When measuring DC voltage, AC voltage, DC current (up to 200 mA), resistance, diodes, continuity (buzzer), or batteries, connect the red test lead to the “V Ω mA” jack and the black test lead to the “COM” jack.
When measuring current above 200 mA, connect the red test lead to the “10A” (or “10A DC”) jack, and the black test lead to the “COM” jack.

I just edited my review and changed rating from three star to one star after using for two weeks. Can’t return since the return window is closed.This is my third DT830D in twenty years. The two previous ones were Kensonic brand and served many years. They were well built and had reasonably good accuracy compared to my Fluke77. The Aptech meter is of cheap construction and poor accuracy. The 20k range was not working in the unit I received and I got replacement. The replaced meter worked for two weeks. Iits now showing erroneous readings. 240v AC is showing as 122V. The reading is not steady. It keeps counting. The continuity buzzer is slow to respond. My old meters had instant response and continuity sounded good. The Aptech meter is a very bad deal.
